What's the difference between learning through active versus passive vocabulary?
- Passive vocabulary is what you learn from language courses, from reading books, from listening to audio tracks, and so on. Native speakers naturally use a lot of vocabulary, so the more you learn, the better you can understand them.
- Active vocabulary consists of the words you yourself use when speaking to a native speaker. You won't use as great a variety of words as a native, but the good news is you don't need to - you can get by with a much more basic wordset.
The many excellent courses on the Internet mainly take a "passive" approach.
But the "active" approach requires you to practise speaking. This is difficult if you don't live in a country that speaks Spanish.
If only there were a way to practise speaking without needing to live abroad!!!!
The Goalpost app provides a 100% active learning experience. The app synthesies random Spanish phrases on the spot,
giving you a continuous variety for translating into and speaking in the learnt language.
